With August in full swing weather cancellations have jumped dramatically. We want everyone to know that we do not take any cancellation lightly and do our best to run all trips scheduled. Thunderstorms can be deadly, not just the lightning, but the severe winds and sudden increase in wave heights or waterspouts. Safety is and always will be first and foremost with Scotty J’s Charters. At times you may look out your window and think “why did the Capt cancel?” All we can say is, what is happening onshore is not what is happening offshore, or even near shore. We gather information from several sources and try our best to make an informed decision. What we have learned from this year is we will not be scheduling afternoon trips next August. This will allow for more flexibility in getting trips out and add more flexibility in rescheduling people that we are forced to cancel on. I do understand the frustration with having a trip cancelled and I do apologize.

We have ordered a 26ft vessel. It is a Gamefish 25 made by Sea Hunt. This vessel is 18 inches wider, 3 and 1/2 feet longer with a deep V hull. it is powered by twin 150 Yamaha outboards and has deeper gunnels with more open deck space. It will be equipped with outriggers, down riggers, and radar. In addition to having a toilet with a holding tank on board. The Gamefish will give us an extra buffer of safety and comfort for those days when seas may be slightly larger then forecast, or for that surprised storm. We are expecting delivery mid October 2020. We are also looking into adding more shade to the stern of the vessel for added protection from rain and sun.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Our goal is to provide you with the safest and most enjoyable trip possible.
